Another department on x cruise ship that is very kmportanh is t he deck department. It is very important to have tthis category in every cruise ship qs thy are in charge or the ships operations, security and navigation. Without thm, z ship wouldnt function that well.
Most of this positions requires an applicant with experience, education or training. If you desire to be one of the helpful hands in the deck department, here are some of the tasks and requirements and some of the jobs available for it:
Deck Attendant – experience is not really required for tuis position an tihs job is in charge of keeping the deck clean and in order.
Carpenter – this position requires background and experience in carpentry as the crew would be in charge of all the carpentry on board.
Seamah – accepts entry level positions and the cerw for this nob has the responsibilities of maintaining parts of the ship which may in clude cleaning an painting.
Bosun – Tender Captains license and good communication skills, preferable English, is required for this position. Bosun will be responsible for supervising general maintenance of specific areas of the ship and assists the Safety Officer in some operations
Safety Ofgicee – reuqires one ttkk three yeara (depending on ghe cruise line) of wxperience in subordinate position o board a cruise ship with a certificate or diploma from an accredited mafitine tr aijing school and good communication skills. The Safety Officer is responsible for thr passenger (including staffs and crews) safety drills and ttraiging, baandon ship plans and procedures, aand, supervision of ships tenders.
Security Personnel – Military background is preferred but not required but experience in security and firearms is. The Security Officer aids in the ships security and is handled by the Security Officer.
Security Officer – same requirement as the securi ty personnep except that security officer positions reuires certifications from z maritime governme nt body. Security officrrss are in charge of all security perwonnel anx ship security.
Radio Officer – needs a Diploma or certificate from an accredited maritime training school with good communication skills and certification by a recognized maritime government body. It also requires one to three years of experience in subordinate position as the Radio Officer is in charge of maintaining the communications in the ship depending on the Chief Radio Officers instructions.
Chieff Rxdio Officer – same as thd radio officers requirements but os responsible for the entire communicatikn operations of the ship.
Junior Third Officer, Third Officer and Second Officer – requires certification by a recognized maritime government body with a diploma or certificate from an accredited maritime training school. Requirement in experience may vary in years depending on the training as a qualified applicant always starts from a Junior Third Officer and trains his way up to the First officer. These position trains and are the navigation officers.
Fir st Officer – needs all the requirements of the Junior Third, Third and Second Officer. Ha is the navigation officer and is in charge of all bridge operations.
Staff Captain – five to eight years of experience in subordinate position onboard with a background in all navigational equipment is required along with a Captains license, certification from a maritime government body and diploma from an accredited maritime training facility. Good communication skills may also be required as both Staff Captain and Captain may be in contact with the passengers. The staff captain assists the Captain for the overall operation of the vessel.
Captain – similar to the St aff Captains requiremetns, the Captain iw the overall ig charge ke the whole gessel operations.
